About us
The Roy & Pamela Sherry Collection A Collection Preserved for Generations The Roy & Pamela Sherry Collection is at the heart of MichaelRickerCollection.com.
After looking at alternatives
For many years, Roy and Pamela Sherry collected and preserved works by American sculptor Michael Anthony Ricker, along with the original materials that accompanied their collection.
Today, their collection includes a substantial number of Michael Ricker and Ricker-Bartlett pieces, ranging from pewter sculptures and limited editions to specialty collectibles and belt buckles.
But what makes the collection particularly special is what Roy and Pamela kept alongside the artwork.
More Than the Sculptures
Roy and Pamela preserved an extensive collection of original Ricker and Ricker-Bartlett materials, including catalogs, price sheets, Collector’s Society Shareholder’s Reports, certificates of authenticity, instructions, historical publications and other documentation.
Many individual sculptures still retain their original paperwork and packaging. Some pieces remained in their original shipping cartons for decades, while some certificate envelopes have remained unopened.
Together, these materials provide something increasingly difficult to reconstruct years later: the history surrounding the pieces themselves.
Documented Collector Provenance
The surviving documentation also provides a direct connection between Roy and Pamela and the Ricker collecting community.
Original Ricker-Bartlett Collector’s Society publications in the collection were mailed directly to Roy V. Sherry and Pamela Sherry, preserving contemporary evidence of their involvement as collectors.
That provenance now remains with the collection.
As individual pieces are cataloged for MichaelRickerCollection.com, their connection to the Roy & Pamela Sherry Collection is documented whenever appropriate.
Preserving What Roy & Pamela Kept Together
The goal is not simply to sell a collection.
Before pieces leave for their next homes, we are documenting the sculptures and preserving the historical information that Roy and Pamela kept with them.
Original catalogs and price sheets are being used to identify pieces and establish historical issue prices where the documentation supports them. Certificates, markings, edition numbers, instructions and original packaging are being recorded. Historical material is being organized into a permanent reference archive.
This allows the collection to be dispersed without allowing its history to disappear with it.
Continuing Their Collection's Story
Every sculpture eventually purchased from the Roy & Pamela Sherry Collection becomes part of another collector’s story.
Our hope is that the care Roy and Pamela put into preserving these pieces and their documentation can continue with their next owners.
Even as individual works are sold, the historical records created from the collection will remain part of MichaelRickerCollection.com, helping future collectors research and appreciate the work of Michael Ricker.
The pieces may find new homes. The history Roy and Pamela preserved will remain.
